Renewable energy for commercial properties
64% of the energy used by a typical commercial or institutional building in Canada is utilized in heating and cooling, according to Natural Resources Canada. Meanwhile, industry in California is 250% more efficient in its energy use than industry in Ontario. The Germans stretch their energy dollars four times as far.
Clearly we can do better.
The fact is, existing, off-the-shelf renewable heating and cooling technology can dramatically improve the energy productivity of industrial and commercial buildings. For owners of multi-unit residential buildings, this means dramatic improvements to operating margins. For commercial building owners, this means a significantly reduced and stabilized cost structure.
